The arrival of St Ives’ first new lifeboat for 25 years (and barring mishaps the last for perhaps 50 years) and a quick canter through the illustrious heritage of the station, referencing the previous 10 permanent boats and the 2 disasters. ‘Nora Stachura’ is named after a lady from Swindon who died in December 2008, leaving her entire residuary estate to the RNLI for the provision of a lifeboat.
