Dover’s RNLI lifeboat was introduced at 1715 on Saturday 21st June 2014 after a request from Dover Coastguard to attend a 24ft angling vessel that had endured engine failure about 8 miles out in the channel in the delivery streets with two persons on board.

“City Of London II” left her berth with a team of 7 led by Coxswain Mark ‘Foggy’ Finnis in great conditions and goinged at full speed to the reported position of the vessel.On arrival at the scene a tow was swiftly set up and also the casualty vessel was taken in tow by the lifeboat which after that proceeded back to Dover.
The lifeboat was back along with at 1920.
Dover Lifeboat Coxswain, Mark Finnis said “The good news is this work transformed out to be a regular telephone call in great weather condition yet the risk of a watercraft drifting in the busiest shipping lanes around the world indicated that a quick feedback was essential.”
